About EAA

Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

How we do it

ROTA aims to support the most climate vulnerable youth (15-24 years) around the world to develop their capacities and mobilise to contribute to greener, more resilient and sustainable communities.

We do this by taking a holistic view of the entire environment, from the child, to the curricula to the communities and the camps to deliver customised programmes that result in better outcomes.

Learning Domains

First we look at 3 learning domains adapted from the Education for Sustainable Development framework:

  • Cognitive
  • SocioEmotional
  • Behavioural

We prioritise projects that focus on the behavioural domain because we believe that the most transformative aspect of Education for Climate Action for youth is putting newly acquired knowledge and skills into practice.

Youth-Led Actions

ROTA believes that linking adequate education to practical results in climate action strengthens young people’s belief that what they do today can make a real positive change in the world tomorrow.

Youth-led climate actions can be any community level initiative conceptualised and carried out by youth beneficiaries that contribute towards mitigation and adaptation of climate change in their communities, including: food security, water conservation, green energy, forestation and waste recycling.

Intervention Focus Areas & Objectives

Finally we look at the educational spaces for our interventions where knowledge and skills can be transmitted as not all youth have access to formal education systems. We focus on reaching youth in classrooms, the wider community and refugee camps to ensure nobody is left behind when it comes to learning about climate change and being empowered to take action.

Greening Education:

  • Integrating climate change education into secondary schools curricula.
  • Supporting training of Teachers & facilitators in Climate Change Education.
