Aprendiz
Aprendiz is a Social Organization for Public Interest, founded in 1997, that develops technologies that promote social integration between schools, families, and communities. These technologies have guided public policies in education throughout the country and have been recognized and awarded by several national and international organizations, including UNESCO, UNICEF, Harvard, and the Bank of Brazil Foundation.
Aprendiz City School was founded in 1997, and works in Brazil to build educational communities that are committed to the development of children and youth.
The Aprendiz Neighborhood School model promotes social integration between schools, families and communities and creates a system of responsibility around the education of children and youth. The Neighborhood School model breaks down the idea that the school is the sole learning space in a community. It integrates resources, staff and expertise to create communities of learning and strengthen local networks.
In partnership with EAC, Aprendiz will enroll and retain 21,000 out of school children in the Ministry of Education’s Schools of Tomorrow program in Rio de Janeiro over three years. Schools of Tomorrow is based on the Aprendiz Neighborhood Schools model and will work to empower communities to enable the education of their children.
