Objective

Conflict is no reason to deny anyone education. Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) envisions a world where the right to education is protected for individuals and communities affected by conflict and insecurity, including the most vulnerable and marginalised. Our goal is to safeguard everyone’s right to inclusive and equitable quality education as an universal human right.

Strengths

PEIC’s strength lies in its extensive history and experience in inclusive and holistic approach to advocacy by targeting both duty bearers and right holders of the right to education agenda.

Since its inception, PEIC has advocated on high-level platforms to those who hold the duty in aims to ensure the strengthening of the international legal mechanisms that safeguard the right to education during insecurity and conflict. In parallel, PEIC has ensured conflict-affected grassroots youth and communities to be empowered and mobilized, with knowledge and skills to become active agents of positive change, contributing to building more just, peaceful and prosperous societies where the right to education is safeguarded for all in any situation.

Way Forward

Looking forward, PEIC remains committed to the protection of education through this two fold approach, by means of:

• Continuous dissemination of accurate data on attacks on education to inform stakeholders with the aim of protection of the right to education;
• Informing and influencing global governance and international law in its mechanisms to protect the right to education;
• The mobilisation and empowerment of youth communities and civil society to take joint action to safeguard quality education and build peace.

Through this approach, PEIC ensures that education is a fundamental right protected by stakeholders and communities alike.
