Build a Future
In partnership with EAC, Save the Children is implementing the Build a Future project in Côte d’Ivoire to work with communities affected by over a decade of violence to create opportunities for children to access quality primary education.
The project addresses the need for increased access to education in Côte d’Ivoire by encouraging communities without access to public schools to take ownership for the construction and running of their own community school. The project involves building 300 temporary and 450 permanent classrooms in 180 communities. Communities are selected that demonstrate a clear willingness and ability to support the project and supply labour, materials and time in the development of their schools. These communities are rewarded with support both financially and in terms of capacity building to develop and launch their schools.
Geographic areas that are being targeted by the project include Odiénné, Korhogo, Bouaké and Bondoukou in the Northern and Central regions of Côte d’Ivoire.
The project seeks to help enrol 28,800 out of school children in the newly constructed schools.
