MIET Africa
MIET Africa is a not-for-profit organisation based in South Africa with a footprint across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. It realises its purpose of improving the lives of children and youth by contributing to quality teaching and learning. MIET Africa prides itself on being an African NGO and an innovator of education approaches that address the many challenges faced by children and youth in the region. It has pioneered many models and programmes, and its influence extends throughout Africa and beyond. MIET focuses on supporting education development, as well as health and socio-economic development where they impact education.
In collaboration with EAC, MIET Africa is implementing the Education: My Right! My Future! (EMRMF) project in the provinces of Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West in South Africa. The EMRMF project will collaborate with multi-sectoral stakeholders at national and provincial levels to operationalise inclusive education strategies and build the capacity of target schools on the ground to conduct OOSC outreach and create safe-learning environments. Moreover, through community advocacy/‘Bring Children to School’ campaigns and home visits, the EMRMF project will be able to identify OOSC and make determinations regarding the support required to retain them in school once enrolled. During the course of three years, the EMRMF initiative aims to identify and enrol a total 30,000 OOSC and systematise, at the policy-making level, service delivery for the country’s most vulnerable school-aged children.
