More than 34,000 Spectators Attend Legendary ‘Match for Hope’ EAA Fundraiser by Q-Life
Doha, Qatar - 23 February 2024 - Q-Life and Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, a global foundation for development, successfully concluded their ‘Match for Hope’ fundraiser campaign. The much-anticipated football spectacle witnessed a turn-out of more than 34,000 people in Qatar and around the world.
The teams, led by renowned social media influencers Chunkz and Abo Flah, came together for a live display of football prowess and exhilaration. Participating in the game were acclaimed football players such as Roberto Carlos, David Villa, Ricardo Kaka, and Didier Drogba. Coaching the teams were captains Arsene Wegner and Antonio Conte. Each player participated in the game on a no-cost basis.
The match, which took place on 23 February at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, is the result of an exciting partnership between Q-Life and EAA Foundation. Other collaborators and sponsors included Qatar Football Association, Qatar Airways, Visit Qatar, Qatar Duty Free, Snoonu, Al Kass, Lulu Hypermarket, Doha Marriott Business Council, QIIB and Al Abdulghani Motors.
The proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit poverty-stricken and disadvantaged communities - as well as out-of-school children - in Palestine, Rwanda, Tanzania, Mali, Pakistan, and Sudan.
The event carries the legacy of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in employing sports to create a longlasting impact through education.
The funds raised will be spread across multiple projects, including EAA Foundation’s zero out-of-school children project in Rwanda. In Tanzania, the proceeds will help address the challenges of providing high quality education.
Children in Mali who are confronted with the risks of political instability, poverty, and inadequate infrastructure will receive additional support. Young people in Pakistan will also benefit from EAA Foundation’s programmes to address urgent education challenges like gender disparities and high school drop-out rates. Additionally, EAA Foundation’s contributions will be evident in Palestine and Sudan, where aid packages will be delivered to communities most in need.
Since 2012, EAA Foundation has effectively pledged and committed to supporting more than 15 million beneficiaries access their right to education. The foundation operates in more than 60 countries with a mandate of addressing key issues and barriers of access to sustainable and high-quality education.
