Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

EMPOWER 2024 YOUTH CONFERENCE

Calendar icon 26 - 27 April 2024
THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN TIMES OF WAR AND CONFLICT

For the last fifteen years, EAA’s annual EMPOWER Youth Conference, organised by Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), has been recognised internationally as a forum where young leaders benefit from experiential learning and cross-learning exchange of ideas with like-minded youth.

Ongoing wars and conflicts around the world, such as in Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine, have created humanitarian crises that demand our urgent attention and action. ROTA recognises the need for youth-led advocacy and humanitarian action to support communities affected by wars and conflicts. Furthermore, ROTA believes it is vital to channel youth's solidarity and creative energy to learn about humanitarian crises and identify effective and meaningful ways to respond.

Therefore, the theme of EMPOWER 2024 will focus on “The Role of Youth in Times of War and Conflict”. Given the current state of events regionally and globally, ROTA sees EMPOWER 2024 as an important forum to demonstrate the importance of engaging with youth and a timely opportunity to facilitate a constructive discussion regarding the response of youth in Qatar to wars and conflict around the world.

EMPOWER 2024 will be a three-day conference in Doha, from 26-27 April, for 250 Qatar-based youth (16-30 years old). It will include power speeches and panel discussions with global youth leaders, expert-led workshops, interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and an exhibition of artwork related to the theme created by local artists.
